Chapter 3: The Letters of a Life

The letter was folded neatly, and as I unfolded it, I could almost hear Julian's voice in my head.

"Dear Nora,

Today, we became husband and wife. It's a strange thing to say, considering the circumstances, but it feels right. I want you to know that I chose you because you have a heart of gold. You saw me when no one else did, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

There is much you don't know about me, and I hope these letters will help you understand. I was once a different man, with a different life. A life that I walked away from years ago. But the memories, they never left me. They haunted me, and in the end, they brought me back to the place where I could find peace.

Tomorrow, I will tell you more. For now, know that you made my last days the most beautiful of my life.

Love, Julian"

I set the letter down, my heart heavy with emotion. Julian's words were both a comfort and a mystery. I felt a connection to him that went beyond the few days we had known each other. The next day, I opened another letter, this one dated the day after our marriage.

"Dear Nora,

Today, I want to tell you about my past. I was once a wealthy businessman, with a loving wife and a beautiful daughter. But I made a mistake, one that cost me everything. My business collapsed, and my wife and daughter left me. I sank into a deep depression and lost all sense of who I was.

For years, I wandered, trying to find a way to make amends. I volunteered at shelters, helped the homeless, and tried to rebuild my life. But the guilt was always there, a constant reminder of my failures. It wasn't until I found myself in this hospital that I realized I could find peace, even if it meant leaving this world alone.

But then you came into my life, and everything changed. You showed me that there is still good in the world, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

Tomorrow, I will tell you more about my daughter, and why I never found her again.

Love, Julian"

The letters were like a puzzle, each one revealing a piece of Julian's life. I felt a deep sense of responsibility to honor his wishes and uncover the truth he had left behind.

Chapter 4: The Lost Daughter

The next day, I opened the letter with a mix of anticipation and dread. Julian's words had already touched me deeply, and I was eager to learn more about his daughter.

"Dear Nora,

Today, I want to tell you about my daughter, Emily. She was the light of my life, a beautiful and kind girl who always saw the best in people. When my business failed, and my wife left, Emily was the only reason I kept going. But I couldn't bear to see her suffer, so I made the hardest decision of my life. I sent her away to live with her aunt, promising myself that I would find her again when I was better.

But life had other plans. I spiraled deeper into depression, and before I knew it, years had passed. I tried to find Emily, but it was too late. She was gone, and I never saw her again. The guilt of losing her has haunted me every day since.
