I Woke Up on My Son’s Wedding Day to Find My Hair Gone and My True Self Emerging

I Woke Up on My Son’s Wedding Day to Find My Hair Gone and My True Self Emerging Save

Section 3

The ceremony drags on while I watch Miles and Camille exchange their vows, a flawless couple in a perfect moment. My heart is a drum in my chest, pounding the rhythm of my unease.

Camille’s laughter rings bright, but it feels hollow. She glances at the ring on her finger, the glint of its diamonds catching the light. I swallow hard; that ring belonged to Gerald. He had given it to me on our tenth anniversary, a symbol of our bond.

Why is she wearing it?

I shift in my seat, the floral arrangements around me blurring as my thoughts spiral. Did Miles know it was once mine? Did he even care? Camille’s gaze flickers towards me, her expression unreadable, then returns to Miles who stands blissfully unaware, caught in her spell.

“I do,” he says, his voice steady. I wish I could feel the same certainty. The weight of the ring presses down on me, deepening my suspicion that she’s not just after our wealth, but something more profound—control over my son.

The vows echo, but they sound thin, distant. My mind races. This woman has a plan, and I can’t let her succeed—not without a fight.

Section 4

The reception is a whirlwind of laughter and clinking glasses, but I feel lost in a haze. As I seek Camille, the realization of what the ring means for her intentions fuels my urgency.

Finally, I spot her near the buffet, her smile too wide, too practiced. My heart pounds as I approach. “Camille,” I call out, my voice steady despite the chaos around us. “We need to talk.”

She turns, eyebrows raised in faux curiosity. “About what, dear?”

“The ring. How did you get it?” I demand, my breath catching with each word. “It belongs to my late husband.”

Her expression shifts, a shadow crossing her face. “Oh, that? I secured it for the wedding,” she replies nonchalantly, almost too casually. “Isn’t it perfect?”

Secure it? The way she says it sends chills down my spine, as though she means to claim it, claim all of us.

I take a step closer, my heart racing with the need to gather proof. There must be something here, something that will expose her. But just as I try to formulate a plan, the lights flicker and plunge the venue into darkness.

Gasps ripple through the crowd. Panic sets in as I blink, disoriented. “Miles!” I call out, but the darkness serves as a blanket, muffling my voice.

Suddenly, amidst the confusion, I hear Camille’s voice, smooth as silk. “He doesn’t need you anymore; I’m his true family now.”
