I Woke Up on My Son’s Wedding Day to Find My Hair Gone and My True Self Emerging

I Woke Up on My Son’s Wedding Day to Find My Hair Gone and My True Self Emerging Save

Confronting the Truth

I stumbled back from the mirror, my heart racing. Thoughts of Camille's note and the betrayal twisted in my gut. Panic surged, pushing me onward—I had to speak to Odette, my only ally, who had been nearby during the rehearsal dinner.

“Odette!” I called, finding her adjusting her hair in the hallway. She turned, her expression shifting from surprise to concern.

“What happened to you?”

“I need to know what you overheard last night. Please.”

She hesitated, biting her lip. “I don’t know if I should—”

“I have to know, Odette. Was Camille planning something?”

Her eyes darted away, but finally, she nodded. “I heard her talking with her bridesmaids. They mentioned a plan to… manipulate Miles once the wedding’s over.”

The words struck me cold. “Manipulate him? What do you mean?”

“She said something like, ‘After the wedding, things will change. He’ll forget about her.’”

My mind raced. Camille wasn’t just after my money; she wanted to erase me from my son’s life. “Did she say anything else?”

Odette looked uneasy. “Just that Miles wouldn’t want you around anymore.”

I felt the weight of her words. Every part of me revolted—Camille was pulling strings I didn’t even know existed. “We need to stop this.”

Rushing to the Wedding

I bolted toward the venue, a flurry of thoughts and emotions colliding within me. Miles needed to know. I couldn’t let Camille manipulate him any longer; I had to protect him. As I drew closer, the bright decorations and the sound of laughter made my stomach churn.

Then I saw her—Camille, radiant in her wedding gown, her smug confidence radiating like a searchlight. My heart raced, and I fought the urge to tear her down right there.

I spotted Miles across the room, surrounded by guests. “Miles!” I called, weaving through the crowd. The laughter fell away, replaced by a tense silence as I reached him.

“Mom, what’s wrong?” he asked, concern evident in his eyes.

“I need to talk to you—now.”

Before I could pull him aside, Camille swooped in with a saccharine smile. “Oh, darling, what’s this? You look worried.”

“Camille, I just need a moment—”

“Oh, don’t be silly! Everything’s perfect!” she chirped, her voice drenched in false sincerity. “You’re just nervous, aren’t you?”

“No, it’s more than that. I need to tell you about—”

But she interrupted again, her eyes narrowing. “Don’t you think it’s time to let your mother rest? She’s clearly overwhelmed.”

As her words sunk in, I realized the trap. She was manipulating the moment, turning Miles against me. My breath caught in my throat as her gaze shifted back to him, a sly smile creeping onto her lips.

“You know it’s time to cut ties with your past,” she said, a chilling finality in her voice.
