I Thought I Was Walking Into Forever Until My Fiancé Orchestrated a Brutal Attack to Marry Another Woman

I Thought I Was Walking Into Forever Until My Fiancé Orchestrated a Brutal Attack to Marry Another Woman Save

The Hospital

I lay in the private hospital room at Ashgrove Memorial, the sounds of the city far less present than the sterile hiss of machines and the soft hum of the air conditioning. My face was heavily bandaged, the pain a constant, throbbing presence, even with the medication. I kept my eyes closed, pretending to be asleep, even though every fiber of my being wanted to scream and lash out.

The voices were low, but clear. Desmond's voice, smooth and reassuring, carried a dangerous edge. "After this," he said, "who would ever want her?"

A woman's voice, unfamiliar, replied, "You're certain she can't identify anyone?"

"She was hit from behind. Even if she remembers something, it'll be circumstantial," Desmond answered. "Priscilla, I need you to trust me on the timeline. We move forward exactly as planned."

I filed the name away, a small act of defiance in the face of their betrayal. Once they left, the room felt heavier, the silence more oppressive. The nurse returned, and I asked for a pen and paper. I needed to write everything down before it slipped away.

When Detective Priya Anand arrived, I was ready. "I need you to understand something," I told her. "I don't think this was a random attack. I think my fiancé paid for it."

The Investigation

Detective Anand was a no-nonsense woman, her eyes sharp and her demeanor professional. She listened to me without interruption, her face a mask of concentration. "Tell me everything you just heard," she said, and I did.

The investigation moved quickly, surprising even me. Detective Anand traced the name Priscilla to Priscilla Vane, a woman Desmond had been in near-daily contact with for the past eight months. Phone records and security footage painted a damning picture.

"Your fiancé and Priscilla Vane planned to marry themselves," Detective Anand explained. "They were going to use a marriage license he applied for under false pretenses, claiming he wasn't engaged to be married the same week."

The man who had attacked me was identified as a low-level associate of a private security contractor Desmond's firm occasionally used. He was paid $40,000 through a series of cash withdrawals designed to avoid reporting requirements. Faced with the prospect of a longer sentence, he cooperated fully.
