I Was Betrayed by the Boy I Loved and Denied a Future at Fifteen

I Was Betrayed by the Boy I Loved and Denied a Future at Fifteen Save

Valeria Arrives at the School Meeting

I walked into the meeting room, my backpack clutched tightly against my chest. The principal, Ms. Rodriguez, sat at the head of the table, her face stern. The counselor, Mr. Thompson, was beside her, looking uncomfortable. My parents were on one side, my dad’s jaw set and my mom’s eyes red from crying. And there, in the front row, was Mateo, his uniform perfectly pressed, his eyes avoiding mine.

Ms. Rodriguez motioned for me to sit, but I couldn’t. My legs felt like lead. She opened the envelope and began to read aloud, her voice steady but strained. "Fifty thousand pesos," she said, "for Valeria to change schools and stop making things up."

The room was silent, the weight of the words hanging in the air. My mom’s face fell, and my dad’s fists clenched. Mateo’s mother, Mrs. Rebeca Rivas, leaned back with a smug smile. The principal looked from one face to another, her expression growing darker.

"This is unacceptable," my dad said, his voice shaking with anger. "My daughter is not for sale."

Mrs. Rebeca’s smile widened. "Then get ready. Because my son is not going to take responsibility for a girl with no future."

Heated Confrontation and Hidden Camera Discovery

Mateo’s eyes darted around the room, avoiding everyone’s gaze. "I don’t know what you’re talking about," he said, his voice barely a whisper.

The principal’s face hardened. "Mateo, this is serious. We have evidence."

Mrs. Rebeca’s smirk was unflinching. "Evidence? What evidence?"

My dad’s patience snapped. He stood up, grabbing the envelope and throwing it on the floor. "This is blackmail. And we won’t stand for it."

The principal’s eyes flashed. "Mr. García, I understand your anger, but we need to handle this with dignity and respect."

Mrs. Rebeca’s smile was condescending. "Of course. We wouldn’t want this to get out of hand."

The room was tense, the air thick with unspoken accusations. The principal turned to me, her voice softer now. "Valeria, I need to speak with you privately. Please, come with me."

I nodded, my legs still unsteady, and followed her into the hallway. The counselor’s office door was slightly ajar, and as we approached, I noticed something odd. A small, almost imperceptible camera, hidden in the corner of the ceiling.

My heart raced. The school knew more than they were letting on. As the hallway interview ended, I felt a chill run down my spine. The camera was still recording, and I realized the school had been watching us all along.

Confronting the Counselor

I stepped out of the principal's office, my heart pounding. The hallway seemed to stretch endlessly before me. I knew I had to act fast.

I found the counselor's office and pushed the door open. The room was dim, the blinds drawn. The counselor, Ms. Hernandez, looked up from her desk, her eyes wide.

“Valeria, what are you—”

I cut her off, my voice trembling. “There’s a camera in here, isn’t there?”

Ms. Hernandez’s face paled. “I... don’t know what you’re talking about.”
