I Unraveled My Family’s Secrets and Took Back Control on My Sister’s Wedding Day

I Unraveled My Family’s Secrets and Took Back Control on My Sister’s Wedding Day Save

Eleanor Meets Brooke

The scent of freshly brewed coffee flooded the small café, but Eleanor barely noticed. Her gaze was fixed on the door, waiting for Brooke to arrive. “This better be worth it,” she muttered under her breath, her heart pounding with anticipation and dread.

When Brooke finally stepped inside, her nervous energy was palpable. “Eleanor,” she greeted, a mix of relief and urgency in her voice. “Thank you for meeting me.”

Eleanor gestured to a table in the corner, the two women settling in with barely a word. The moment Brooke slid an envelope across the table, Eleanor felt a chill wash over her. “What’s this?”

“Photos and documents,” Brooke replied, her voice low. “Proof of Arthur's betrayal. His first wife, she—she wants you to know the truth.”

Eleanor opened the envelope with shaking hands. The first image was of Arthur, his arm around another woman—Brooke’s face, familiar yet foreign. “This is her?” Eleanor breathed, feeling the walls of her world begin to crack.

Brooke nodded, her eyes clouded with empathy. “They were married for years, and he never told you. I didn’t even know until recently.”

As each document unfurled deeper layers of deceit, rage coiled tightly in Eleanor’s chest. “This is unbelievable,” she whispered, her thoughts racing. “Why would he lie?”

“To control the narrative,” Brooke said bluntly. “He needed to erase his past to keep you in his grasp. You were never just a trophy, Eleanor. He was building an empire, and you were collateral.”

Sisters Face Off

Eleanor’s mind spiraled with Brooke’s revelations. “I can’t just sit here,” she said, standing abruptly. She needed to act, to take back her life piece by piece. But before she could think clearly, Sienna entered the café, every head turning in her direction.

“Eleanor?” Sienna’s voice was sharp, as if she had been hunting her. Their eyes locked, tension crackling between them. “What are you doing here?”

“Meeting a friend,” Eleanor shot back, defiance bubbling to the surface. “You shouldn’t be surprised. You’ve taken everything else.”

Sienna scoffed, settling at the next table, a smirk plastered on her face. “Right, because you’re the one who walked away.”

“Walked away?” Eleanor couldn't hold her tongue. “You mean when you took Arthur and my place in this family?”

Sienna leaned in, the smirk fading. “You have no idea what really happened, do you? Mom wanted you out of the business. She orchestrated the whole thing.”

Those words hit Eleanor like a punch to the gut. “What?” she breathed, disbelief flooding her senses. “You can’t be serious.”

“I am,” Sienna retorted, anger flashing in her eyes. “She said you were too emotional. She needed someone like me to keep things running smoothly.”

As the weight of the revelation settled over Eleanor, Sienna stood, her expression unyielding. “I have to go. But you should know, you’re not the victim here.” With that, Sienna stormed out, leaving Eleanor grappling with the staggering truth.
