I Never Stopped Searching for My Missing Daughter Until a Stranger Walked Into My Bakery with Her Face on His Arm

I Never Stopped Searching for My Missing Daughter Until a Stranger Walked Into My Bakery with Her Face on His Arm Save

Unraveling Threads

The next morning, I awoke earlier than usual, an urgency gnawing at me. The locket burned a hole in my pocket, an emblem of Sofía’s presence. I had to find the man again, the one who carried her tattooed face. I had to know more about her life.

After the bakery opened, I poured over the small details he had given me. The name of a place she had mentioned. An abandoned building that seemed to echo with secrets. I grabbed a pen and jotted it down, my heart racing as it felt like a crumb on a trail.

Hours later, a steady stream of customers blurred into the background as I lost myself in thought. I needed a plan. I needed to confront my fears. With each customer that entered, I wondered if it would be someone with the answers I sought.

Then, around noon, I spotted a familiar figure approach the counter. The man from the other day. My heart pounded. He seemed different today. Haggard. His clothes were slightly wrinkled, and his eyes scanned the bakery anxiously.

“You came back,” I breathed, relief flooding over me. “Did you find anything?”

He shook his head, his brow knitted. “I had to find you,” he said, his voice low. “There’s something else you need to know. Something important.”

“What is it? Is it about Sofía?”

He stepped closer, lowering his voice. “It’s about the man who took her. He’s looking for her, too.”

“What do you mean?” I asked, heart pounding.

A Door to Terror

“He’s dangerous,” he murmured. “You have to be careful.”

I took a step back, fear washing over me. The bakery felt suddenly small and constricting once more. “What are you saying? Who is he?”

“I can’t say much,” he replied, glancing at the door nervously. “But he knows about you. I overheard something—he’s been asking questions about a bakery owner with a missing daughter.”

I felt the blood drain from my face. What did that mean? I had always felt hidden in my little world, but now, that sense of sanctuary was shattered.

The man continued, “We need to make a plan. If he’s asking about you, then he’s also looking for answers. We can’t let him find you.”

“What do you propose?” I asked, my voice trembling.

“We need to get to that place she mentioned. The abandoned building. I believe she’s still connected to it somehow.”

“What if he’s waiting for us?” My mind spun with possibilities. “What if he finds us there?”

“We have to take that risk. If Sofía is alive, we need to find her before it’s too late.”
