I Married a Disabled Billionaire to Save My Family, But What Happened on Our Wedding Night Changed Everything

I Married a Disabled Billionaire to Save My Family, But What Happened on Our Wedding Night Changed Everything Save

Unexpected Moments

Over the following days, I began to notice strange things about Arnav. When he thought no one was watching, his legs would twitch just slightly, a movement so subtle yet alive, like a spark behind a dampened flame.

As I spent more time with him, the coldness that surrounded him started to crack. One evening, we shared a quiet moment on the balcony, watching the sun dip below the horizon. “You know,” he said, glancing sideways, “sometimes I feel more trapped inside these walls than in this chair.”

His words resonated deep within me. I felt the same suffocating sense of confinement—my stepmother's iron grip, my father's debts weighing heavily on my shoulders. In those precious moments, I began to see beyond the wheelchair. Arnav had layers, struggles, and desires I had yet to understand.

But then came the family dinner. Arnav's relatives were polite, yet their eyes were sharp, piercing through me like daggers. I could feel the tension in the air thickening as dinner progressed. Just as I thought I might survive the night unscathed, one of his aunts leaned forward, her voice laced with skepticism.

“What exactly do you see in Arnav? Let’s be honest here, dear,” she said, her tone dripping with condescension. “You must know what comes with marrying into our family.”

The judgment hung heavy around my neck. Every set of eyes turned heavy with expectation, an unspoken question loomed: Was I in it for the money, or was I genuinely committed? I felt the heat rise in my cheeks, fighting back the rising tide of defensiveness.

Confrontation and Truths

The moment I found an opportunity, I pulled Arnav aside. “You need to tell me the truth,” I demanded, my voice steady despite the turmoil inside. “What is going on with your legs?”

He hesitated, the wall he had built around himself beginning to show cracks. Finally, he spoke, his voice low. “I’ve faked my disability, Aarohi. I couldn't bear the expectations from my family any longer.”

Shock coursed through me. “What do you mean?” I asked, struggling to comprehend his words. “Why would you do that?”

“It was my only way out,” he confessed, his expression haunted. “I wanted to find my own identity, to live without being defined by their wealth.”

Just as we reached a fragile understanding, the door swung open, and my stepmother entered, her eyes blazing with fury. “Aarohi! You need to come home right now!”

“End this ridiculous charade. You have no idea what you’ve gotten into,” she spat, her voice rising. “You need to choose between this farce and your family.”

Her words slammed into me like a brick wall, leaving me paralyzed between two worlds. “What do you mean?” I asked, trying to catch my breath.

Then her expression shifted, a cold smile creeping onto her face. “I know things about your biological father that you’ve never been told. I’ve manipulated our lives for years.”

My heart raced, terror gripping me. What had she done? What secrets lay buried beneath her words? I felt the ground shift beneath my feet, my entire reality coming undone.
