“Why would he do this?” I whispered, not expecting an answer, just hoping for clarity.

“Maybe helping Lila isn’t all he’s after. Maybe it’s a way to dig out from under his choices.”

I kept replaying Daniel’s words. Blue Harbor Strategy felt like an echo, but I couldn’t pin down why.

“What does this mean for us? For the divorce?” I asked, almost desperate.

Mara reached across the table, her fingers resting on mine. “This isn’t just about you anymore. This is business.”

The realization hit hard, sharper than I anticipated—less a personal betrayal than a professional one. What did I truly know about Ethan?

Weeks passed. I fortified myself with more screenshots and messages, but nothing eased the anxiety. My phone buzzed again one morning as I was leaving for work. Different number, same unease. I hesitated before answering.

“Ms. Lawson? I have information regarding Mr. Lawson's computing access. It’s urgent.”

“Who is this?” I felt a ripple of confusion, my grip tightening on the phone.

“You need to come to the office.”
