I Followed My Husband After Seeing a Mysterious Message, And the Truth Behind His Secret Night Unfolded

I Followed My Husband After Seeing a Mysterious Message, And the Truth Behind His Secret Night Unfolded Save

Following Cameron

I slipped the keys into my pocket, heart hammering against my ribs as I watched Cameron pull out of the driveway.

The morning air was crisp, the scent of wet asphalt mixing with coffee from the kitchen.

He eased onto Maple Street, his truck a familiar rumble, but the rhythm felt off.

Just a block away a sleek black sedan glided beside me, its paint reflecting the early sun like a mirror.

The driver’s side window lowered, and a woman in a red coat stepped out, the fabric whispering against the pavement.

Her wide‑brimmed hat cast a shadow over her face, hiding her eyes, but I could see the sharp line of her jaw.

She glanced around, then met Cameron’s gaze for a fraction of a second before turning toward the office building.

My hands tightened on the steering wheel; I could feel the tremor travel up my arm.

Every mile felt like a countdown, the city buildings growing taller, the downtown office complex looming ahead like a promise I wasn’t sure I wanted to keep.

When the sedan finally merged back into traffic, I stayed close, matching his speed, the red coat a flicker in my rear‑view.

My mind raced—who was she? Why the secrecy?

Across the Street

I pulled into a narrow spot opposite the glass façade, engine ticking down to silence.

Cameron slipped out of his truck, his shoes clicking on the concrete, the woman in the red coat trailing just behind him.

The building’s security camera sputtered, its lens flickering as if caught off guard.

They vanished through the revolving doors, the glass doors sealing behind them with a soft thud.

I stared at the empty entrance, the hum of the street filling the void.

Then, a high‑pitched screech ripped through the air behind me.

A delivery truck hurtled around the corner, tires screaming, and slammed hard into the curb, its rear end skidding to a halt.

The driver, a burly man in a stained apron, leapt out, shouting—

"Watch out! Someone’s coming! Get back!"

His voice cracked with urgency, echoing off the brick walls as sirens began to wail in the distance.

My breath caught; the street suddenly felt alive with danger, and Cameron was nowhere to be seen.

Quiet Alley Encounter

I slipped out of the glass doors just as the woman in the red coat vanished into the shadowed alley.

The concrete was cool under my shoes, the faint hum of the streetlights buzzing like distant insects.

She paused at a rusted fire escape, head tilted, as if listening for something I couldn't hear.

When Cameron appeared, his shoulders tight, I could see the tension in his jaw.

She slipped a small, cream‑colored envelope into his hand.

Its surface bore a sleek silver emblem—a stylized “V” and a lightning bolt—that matched the logo on the back of his laptop.

“You know this,” she whispered, voice muffled by the coat’s collar.
