I Dressed as a Housekeeper to Expose My Son’s Fiancée and What I Discovered Broke My Heart

I Dressed as a Housekeeper to Expose My Son’s Fiancée and What I Discovered Broke My Heart Save

Gathering Evidence

I waited until I was sure Tabitha was alone, her voice a honeyed whisper on the phone. With trembling hands, I set my recorder on the small table by the entrance, adjusting the tiny microphone to pick up her words. This wasn’t just about me anymore; it was about Robin’s future.

“You know, after the wedding, all of his finances will be ours,” she purred, her tone betraying nothing but ambition.

“I can’t wait to get my hands on that trust fund,” she laughed, her friend chiming in with devilish delight.

My stomach twisted. I pressed my back against the wall, straining to hear more, the sound of their laughter slicing through me. This was the real Tabitha, hidden under layers of charm and grace. She was meticulous in her plotting.

I was just about to storm in and confront her when my phone buzzed violently, jolting me from my thoughts. It was Robin.

“Mom? Are you there? I think I heard Tabitha say something about finances,” he said, his voice a mix of confusion and alarm.

Each word felt like a punch to my gut. “Robin, get out of there! She’s-”

Confrontation

Before I could finish, I heard the door swing open. Tabitha stood before me, her eyes narrowing like a hawk spotting prey. “Well, well, if it isn’t the meddling mother,” she sneered, her lips curling into a mocking smile. “Eavesdropping, are we?”

“I heard enough,” I shot back. “You’re manipulating him for his money!”

“Oh, please,” she scoffed, crossing her arms. “You’re just jealous of our happiness. Robin deserves someone who can provide for him, not just hang around and play the martyr.”

Robin appeared behind her, his expression a mixture of hurt and confusion. “Mom, is this true? Are you really trying to sabotage us?”

My heart sank as I looked at him, desperation spilling from my words. “No! You have to trust me, Robin. She’s using you!”

“Mom, just leave us alone. I can’t take this,” he said, his voice cracking.

I turned and walked away, my chest heavy with the weight of betrayal. As I reached the door, I heard Tabitha whisper to him.

“Don’t worry, Robin. Once the wedding is underway, I’ll take care of all the distractions.”

Her words sent a chill down my spine, leaving me shaken and anxious. What did she mean by distractions? I could feel the ground beneath me shifting, the world closing in as I realized just how dangerous the situation had become.
