I Brought Home a Fake Boyfriend to Uncover Why Men Vanished After Meeting My Daughters

I Brought Home a Fake Boyfriend to Uncover Why Men Vanished After Meeting My Daughters Save

Digging for Clues

Days passed since that fateful dinner, but my mind wouldn't let go of the unease Daniel had shared. What were my daughters hiding? I felt like a detective, scouring their rooms for any hint of truth.

When I stumbled upon a scrap of paper with several names written on it, my heart raced. I approached the girls, who were playing quietly in the living room.

"Hey, sweeties," I said, keeping my voice light. "Who are these friends you’ve been talking about?"

My youngest shrugged, her eyes darting away. "Just kids from school." Her tone was evasive, too casual.

"Are they nice? What do they think about the guys I've been dating?" I pressed, sensing the growing knot of tension in the room.

My oldest shot her sister a quick glance, a signal I couldn’t decipher. "It's just boring stuff, Mom," she replied, her smile too wide.

Frustration bubbled within me. "You know, the men have been disappearing, right? It’s okay if you know something." I paused for effect. "I want to help you." The words lingered like a heavy fog.

In that moment, my youngest’s face paled. "We don’t know anything," she whispered, her eyes suddenly shadowed. It was as if I had flipped a switch, and now they were both on alert.

Secrets at the Amusement Park

We visited the amusement park that weekend, a bright escape from our growing tension. Laughter surrounded us, but I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had taken root.

I needed a moment to gather my thoughts, so I left the girls to grab some snacks. "Stay right here," I instructed, watching them nod obediently as I walked away.

As I strolled through the crowd, I spotted a boy from the neighborhood, his familiar face sending a shiver up my spine. I turned back towards my daughters, and my heart sank when I saw them huddled together, whispering conspiratorially.

"What are you two talking about?" I asked, stepping closer, but the sight of their wide eyes sent a chill through me.

They fell silent, laughter dying on their lips like a candle snuffed out. The boy glanced at them, then at me, panic etched across his features.

"We were just—" my youngest stammered, but her words fell away as she realized they wouldn’t convince me.

“It’s not what you think!” my oldest blurted, her voice shaky.

Ignoring her, I focused on the boy, sensing that he held the key to understanding this bizarre web. "You know something, don’t you?" I pressed, my voice firm.

He shook his head, backing away. "I can’t talk here. Just… don’t ask too many questions." Then, just like that, he was gone.

My breath quickened. Just as I pieced together the connection between the cult and my daughters, I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. I pulled it out and stared in disbelief at the screen: a chilling message from one of the vanished men's phones, showing a photo of my daughters with a warning: 'Stay away from them.'
