A Homeless Man’s Plea and a Wife’s Shocking Discovery After His Unexpected Passing

A Homeless Man’s Plea and a Wife’s Shocking Discovery After His Unexpected Passing
← Previous Part (1) Reading Part 2 of 3

Larry's desperation was palpable, and I found myself wanting to help him. "Okay, Larry," I said finally, trying to sound calm. "I'll marry you." Larry's face lit up with a faint smile, and he whispered, "Thank you, Sarah." As I stood up to leave, I couldn't shake off the feeling that I had just made a decision that would change my life forever. And then, Larry's parting words made my blood run cold: "You won't regret this, Sarah. I promise."

Two days later, we went to the city courthouse and signed the papers. It wasn't a real marriage, just a legal technicality to give a dying man some dignity. As we sat in the crowded courtroom, Larry's frailty was evident, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness. After the ceremony, we parted ways, and I didn't see Larry again until the day he passed away in a state hospice facility.

A Sudden Passing

Exactly three weeks later, I received a call from the hospice, informing me of Larry's passing. I was shocked and saddened by the news, despite knowing it was inevitable. As his wife, I was responsible for making the necessary arrangements, and I felt a sense of duty to give him a proper farewell. The funeral was a small, intimate affair, with only a handful of people in attendance. As I stood by the graveside, I couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt for not being able to do more for Larry while he was alive.

As I was leaving the cemetery, I couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something more to Larry's story, something he hadn't told me. And then, I received a thick envelope in the mail, postmarked the day before he died. I sat at my kitchen table, hesitating for a moment before opening it. What could Larry have written that would make me feel so anxious?

I unfolded the handwritten pages, fully expecting a sweet, heartbreaking thank-you note. But as I began to read, my eyes widened in shock. The letter was not what I had expected at all. It was a story, a story of Larry's past, of secrets and lies, of family and betrayal. I felt like I was reading a novel, not a letter from a dying man.

A Hidden Past

As I read on, I discovered that Larry was not who I thought he was. He was not just a homeless man, but a man with a family, a man with a history. He had been a successful businessman, with a wife and children, but a tragic event had led him to lose everything. I couldn't believe what I was reading. Why had Larry kept this from me? Why had he pretended to be someone he's not?

I felt a mix of emotions: shock, anger, and sadness. I didn't know what to make of the letter or what to do next. Part of me wanted to confront the people mentioned in the letter, to ask them why they had abandoned Larry. But another part of me was scared, scared of what I might find out, scared of the truth. As I finished reading the letter, I knew I had to take action, but what that action would be, I had no idea.

The truth was finally coming out — and there was no turning back now… (Continue to Part 3 →)
