Ingredients

Main Components

  • 1 French baguette, sliced ½‑inch thick
  • 8 fresh figs, halved
  • 4 ounces creamy goat cheese, softened

Roasting & Glaze

  • 2 tablespoons extra‑virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ cup aged balsamic vinegar

Seasonings & Garnish

  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves
  • Optional: crushed pistachios for crunch

Instructions

Assembling the Crostini

  1. Spread the cheese. Using a small butter knife, dollop about ½ teaspoon of softened goat cheese onto each toasted baguette slice and spread evenly. The warm bread softens the cheese slightly, creating a creamy layer that holds the figs in place.
  2. Add the figs. Place one or two roasted fig halves on top of the cheese, arranging them so the cut side faces up. This orientation showcases the caramelized edges and allows the glaze to seep into the fruit.
  3. Drizzle the glaze. Lightly drizzle the balsamic reduction over each crostini, using a spoon or a squeeze bottle. Aim for a thin ribbon; too much glaze can overwhelm the delicate flavors.
  4. Season and garnish. Finish with a pinch of freshly ground black pepper, a sprinkle of fresh thyme leaves, and, if desired, a few crushed pistachios for crunch. The herbs add brightness, while the pistachios introduce texture.
