Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each), skin on
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Sauce / Marinade

  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (or tamari for gluten‑free)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Seasonings & Garnish

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, for extra depth)
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Cooking the Salmon

  1. Heat the Skillet. Place a heavy‑bottomed skillet over medium‑high heat for 3 minutes. Add a drizzle of olive oil; when it shimmers, you’re ready for the sear.
  2. Sear Skin‑Side First. Lay the fillets skin‑side down, pressing gently for 10 seconds to prevent curling. Cook 4–5 minutes without moving until the skin turns deep amber and releases easily from the pan.
  3. Flip and Glaze. Turn the fillets over, then spoon half of the honey‑garlic glaze over each piece. Let them cook another 2 minutes, allowing the glaze to caramelize.
  4. Finish in the Oven. Transfer the skillet to a pre‑heated 375°F (190°C) oven. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the thickest part reaches 145°F (63°C). This gentle finish ensures the interior stays moist.
  5. Baste Once More. Remove the pan, drizzle the remaining glaze over the salmon, and let it rest for 3 minutes. The glaze will set, giving a sticky sheen and extra flavor.
