I’m Still Shaken After My Neighbor Turned My Car Bubblegum Pink and Then Threatened Me on My Own Porch

I’m Still Shaken After My Neighbor Turned My Car Bubblegum Pink and Then Threatened Me on My Own Porch Save

Setting the Trap

I stared at the pink carcass of my sedan, the bubblegum glare mocking me from the driveway.

“I’m not letting this go,” I muttered, pulling the latch on the garage door.

Inside, I unpacked three tiny bullet‑cameras, their lenses like sleepy eyes.

One I tucked behind the garden gnome, another nestled in the overgrown hedge, the third perched on the porch rail, angled at the front door.

The beeping of the timers sounded like tiny heartbeats, promising proof where there had been none.

Across the street, Lorna leaned on her fence, arms crossed, eyes narrowed like a hawk spotting a mouse.

She didn’t say a word, but the set of her jaw was a warning.

Just then, Mrs. Patel, the HOA secretary, shuffled by, her cardigan brushing the porch step.

“Marnie, you look… tired,” she said, voice soft, offering a sympathetic ear.

“Just trying to catch who’s been… painting my life,” I replied, forcing a smile.

She nodded, handing me a flyer about community security upgrades, then disappeared down the sidewalk.

As Lorna’s stare lingered, I felt a shiver run up my spine, but I tightened the camera straps and turned back to the task.

Midnight Vandal

Night fell thick and silent, the only sound the hum of the refrigerator and the occasional rustle of wind through the trees.

My phone buzzed with a notification—motion detected. I hurried to the monitor, heart thudding.

On the screen, a flash of silver: a masked figure slipped through the shadows, spray can rattling.

Black paint hissed onto the pink surface, forming jagged letters that read “YOU’RE DONE.”

Each hiss was a scream, each spray a slash across my nerves.

I watched, breath shallow, the figure moving methodically, the spray leaving a furious slogan on the hood.

Just as the camera’s red light faded, a deafening bang ripped through the house.

The front door shuddered, wood splintering, a crack racing across the glass pane.

Lorna burst through, bathrobe flapping, eyes wild, finger thrust forward as if accusing the very air.

“Did you do this?!” she shouted, voice cracking like broken glass.

Before I could answer, the pounding stopped—silence settled like a held breath.

Behind Lorna, a dark silhouette emerged, the outline of a figure clutching a fresh roller, pink paint glistening on its bristles.

Vase Shattered, Secrets Unveiled

"You think you can paint me out of existence?" Lorna hissed, her bathrobe swirling as she lunged across the kitchen tile.

She grabbed the crystal vase from the counter, hurled it toward the far wall, and it shattered in a spray of glittering shards.

Among the fragments, a glint of metal caught my eye – a pocket watch half‑buried in the wreckage.

I knelt, fingertips brushing the broken porcelain, and lifted the tarnished timepiece.

It was engraved with “L R — 1979,” the same initials I’d seen on her childhood photo in the HOA newsletter.
