My Perfect Husband Attacked My Mother Then Blamed Her for Self-Defense

My Perfect Husband Attacked My Mother Then Blamed Her for Self-Defense Save

Precinct Arrival

I slammed the car door and stepped onto the cold concrete of the county precinct.

Officer Daniels looked up from his desk, his badge glinting under the fluorescent lights.

"Emily? What brings you here at this hour?" he asked, voice flat.

I thrust my phone toward him.

"My mother just called. I need her report."

He opened his computer, the screen bathing his face in a pale glow.

"Here." He printed a thin sheet; the header read Margaret Cole – Emergency Examination.

My eyes scanned the lines.

No bruises, no lacerations, no mention of a metal impact.

"No sign of a weapon injury," I said, heart hammering.

Daniels frowned.

"That's odd. The officer on scene said she was hit with an iron fireplace tool."

I felt the memory of that heavy cast‑iron set, the way we lifted it together, the years it sat in the attic.

He clicked a folder, then hesitated.

"The surveillance footage from last night... it's not here."

A cold draft slipped through the hallway, and the printer whirred once before stopping.

My breath caught. The missing video meant the only evidence left was the story we both knew was a lie.

Interrogation in the Dark

We moved to the interrogation room. Nathan sat across from me, his hands clasped, eyes steady.

"Emily, I told the police the truth," he began, voice low.

"You said she swung the fireplace tool at you."

He nodded.

"She came at me, angry. I just defended myself."

I leaned in, the scent of stale coffee in the air.

"And the bruises on your hands?" I asked, tapping the edge of the table.

"From the fall," he replied, a faint smile flickering.

The lights buzzed, then flickered, dimming to a shaky amber.

Behind us, the building shuddered as the backup generator sputtered.

We were plunged into near darkness, only the glow of the desk lamp trembling.

My pulse raced; the room felt tighter.

Suddenly, a high, jagged scream ripped through the hallway.

The door clanged shut, the lock clicking into place.

We were trapped, the darkness swallowing the room, the echo of the scream lingering like a warning.

Emily Forces Nathan to Open His Phone

The lights in the interview room flickered as I pushed Nathan into his chair. He looked pale, his eyes darting around the room.
