A Dangerous Game

Later that evening, I found myself pacing the garden, the twilight casting elongated shadows. I felt like a bird fluttering against the bars of its cage. The realization hit me: this wasn’t just a misunderstanding. The family I had nurtured had decided to lock me away.

Nothing felt real anymore. I was losing the threads of my past as much as I was losing my place in the world.

As I wandered, I spotted Frank leaning on a tree, a glimmer of mischief in his eye. “Ready to talk?”

“I need your help,” I whispered, scanning the area for eavesdropping ears.

He raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “I can’t promise anything, but I’m listening.”

“I want out.” I rubbed my hands together, heart racing. “They’ve taken my will. I need to fight back.”

Frank studied me for a moment. “You’ll need a solid plan. Something to lure them here.”

“What do you mean?”

“Something that could put their inheritance at risk.”

I hesitated, but a thrill of defiance surged through me. “What do I have to do?”

The cold night air was electrifying, but it fueled my determination.

Over the next few days, I began to weave my plan. I started by reconnecting with the other residents, gathering pieces of their stories. Each shared secret felt like thread spinning into my own. I would create a web they couldn’t escape.

On Friday, I felt a charge in the air as I set my plan in motion. All eyes turned as I took center stage at the Open House Day, my heart thundering in my chest.
