I Overheard My Husband Planning to Kill Me and My Family for $300 Million on Our Honeymoon Cruise

I Overheard My Husband Planning to Kill Me and My Family for $300 Million on Our Honeymoon Cruise Save

I Stumbled Down the Staircase, Gripping the Mahogany Walls for Balance

Halfway down the staircase, my legs nearly gave out. Then I heard voices below. "How much did you give her?" my father-in-law, Aidan, asked.

"Two pills last night," Flynn replied. "And more in her soup. By midnight, she’ll barely be conscious." I stopped breathing.

My mother-in-law, Fiona, spoke next. "So tonight?"

"There’s a storm coming after midnight," Flynn said. "I’ll take her to the aft deck for fresh air." A pause. "Then one push."

My hand tightened around the railing. "The ocean does the rest."

These were the same people who had toasted me at my wedding. The same husband who had kissed my forehead an hour earlier. Then Aidan asked the question that explained everything. "And her money?"

Flynn laughed. "She signed the power of attorney before the wedding. Once she's declared lost at sea, we start moving the assets."

"Three hundred million dollars," Fiona whispered. They clinked glasses. With champagne my father had paid for. On his yacht. While discussing my death.

I wanted to run, but the drugs had turned my legs to rubber. Then Fiona asked, "What about her parents?"

Flynn's answer nearly made me collapse. "They're driving into the mountains next week."

"So?"

"So my people will handle the car."

Silence. Then Aidan chuckled. "An accident?"

"Brake failure on an icy road," Flynn replied. "After that, there won't be another Sterling left to interfere."

I covered my mouth before a sound could escape. This wasn't greed anymore. It was extermination. I slowly backed away from the stairs. My first instinct was to call my father. Then I remembered something. Flynn had my phone. He'd taken it after lunch, claiming the screen needed charging. And suddenly I understood why.

I Rushed to the Master Suite, Locking the Door Behind Me

My heart pounded as I fumbled with the lock, finally securing it. I needed a plan. I needed help. But where could I hide? Where could I find a way out?

The master suite was opulent, with a large king-sized bed, a carved wooden headboard, and a spacious en-suite bathroom. I glanced around, desperate for anything that could help me.

My eyes landed on the headboard. It was intricately carved, with a design that seemed more than decorative. I approached it, running my fingers over the wood. There, hidden in the carvings, was a small, almost imperceptible seam.

I pressed on it, and to my surprise, a hidden compartment slid open. Inside, I found a small, humming device. I recognized it immediately. It was one of my father's security upgrades—a covert distress signal and navigation lock.

My hands shook as I pulled it out, my mind racing. Could this be my salvation? But before I could even activate it, I heard footsteps. Flynn, Aidan, and Fiona were closing in, their voices growing louder.

I stuffed the device into my pocket and turned to face the door. They were almost here. I could hear their footsteps on the other side. Their faces, twisted with murderous intent, materialized in my mind. I had to act fast.

She Activates the Device

I fumbled with the humming device, my hands shaking. A tiny red button caught my eye. I pressed it, and the device emitted a faint beep. Instantly, the yacht's navigation systems locked down, and a silent alarm pinged to my father's private security network.
