I Never Imagined My Wedding Day Turning Into a Night of Blood‑Soaked Betrayal on the Marble Stairs

I Never Imagined My Wedding Day Turning Into a Night of Blood‑Soaked Betrayal on the Marble Stairs Save

The Kitchen Panic

My boots splashed on the marble as I dragged Sophie into the hallway, her small fingers digging into the wool of my coat.

“Hold tight, sweetheart,” I whispered, feeling the broken lilies crunch under my heel like dead snow.

In the kitchen, Marta’s phone trembled in her hand, the screen flashing red as she muttered frantic numbers.

“They’re on their way, Marta! Tell them everything!” I barked, breath fogging in the cold air.

She glanced up, eyes wild. “Detective Alvarez—he’s already on the line. He wants the vault code, Victor.”

A sudden chill ran through my spine when she continued, “The combination’s been changed. The safe… it’s empty.”

My heart slammed against my ribs. I could hear the distant echo of Serena’s heels still reverberating, a cruel metronome.

“Empty?” I hoarse‑ly repeated, the word tasting like ash.

Sophie’s shoulders trembled against me; the torn satin of her dress whispered against the marble as she clutched the coat.

“We need to find where they went,” Marta said, voice shaking, “and get the police in before they disappear.”

I nodded, eyes flicking to the darkened foyer where the chandelier cast a cold, golden pool.

Police Arrive and the Chandelier Falls

The front door burst open and Detective Alvarez stepped in, his badge flashing under the chandelier’s harsh light.

“Detective Alvarez, this is Victor Sterling. We need answers, now.”

Serena lunged toward the back stairs, her dress swaying like a wounded bird.

“You’re not going anywhere, Serena!” Alvarez shouted, grabbing her wrist.

She hissed, “You have no proof.”

I felt a sudden urge to look up. Between the glittering crystals, a faint seam in the plaster caught my eye.

“There’s a hidden passage behind that chandelier,” I whispered to myself, heart thudding.

Without warning, a low creak split the air. The massive fixture shuddered, the crystal arms trembling like a nervous animal.

“Victor—step back!” Marta shouted, but I was already moving, my hand reaching for the edge of the marble.

The chandelier gave a deafening crash, shards of glass and gilded metal spiraling down.

It slammed into the floor, sealing the narrow doorway that led to the hidden room.

Sophie’s terrified gasp was swallowed by the falling debris, her small form trapped inside the secret chamber.

Dust choked the air as the last crystal clanged against the stone, and I stood frozen, the echo of the crash ringing in my ears, a grim promise that the night had just begun.

Secret Chamber Revelations

When the chandelier shattered, the dust settled into a yawning darkness behind the broken plaster.

I shoved my trembling hand into the void and felt cold stone walls, then a narrow crawl that opened onto a cramped room.
