The Confrontation

Victor stepped forward, his presence shifting the dynamic entirely. “Dominic, I don’t think you understand what you’re up against. This isn’t just a family dispute anymore.”

The room buzzed with anticipation. Dominic's eyes darted between Victor and me, panic creeping into his features. “You can’t do this here,” he hissed, his voice fraying at the edges.

My brother’s jaw tightened, and he leaned closer to me. “Viv, is this really what you want?”

“Yes,” I said firmly, finding strength in Victor’s unwavering gaze. “I need to expose him for who he really is.”

A whisper filtered through the crowd, the socialites shocked by the revelation of my brother's presence. I caught sight of Chloe, her expression shifting from contempt to fear.

“If you think you can come here and bully us—” Dominic began, but Victor cut him off with a wave of his hand.

“You need to listen. You’ve crossed a line, and it’s time to face the consequences.”

“What consequences?” Dominic challenged, the bravado slipping from his voice.

Victor took a breath, narrowing his eyes. “I’ll make sure everyone at this table knows exactly who you are and what you’ve been hiding.”

The Fallout

The tension skyrocketed as the weight of his words sank in. I felt Sophia tugging on my hand, sensing the shift in the air. “Mommy, I’m scared,” she whispered.

“It’s okay, sweetheart. Just stay close to me,” I reassured her, though my heart raced with uncertainty.

“You think people care about your name?” Dominic shot back, desperation in his voice. “They care about their fortunes, Vivienne. You won’t change anything.”

But I could see the cracks beginning to show. The executives around the table were exchanging glances, a mix of apprehension and intrigue mingling in the air.

Victor stepped forward, his voice low and compelling. “You underestimate the strength of the Sterling name, Dominic. You invited us into your world, and now you will bear the weight of your actions.”

In that moment, the orchestra fell silent, the echo of Victor’s words hanging between us. There was no escaping this confrontation. Dominic’s facade of control was fracturing, and I reveled in it.

“You’re right. You didn’t think I had the power, did you?” I said, stepping closer, my voice a sharp whisper in his ear. “You’ve underestimated me this whole time.”

Dominic’s gaze dropped, and for an instant, he looked like a cornered animal, fearful and desperate. “You don’t know what you’re doing, Vivienne,” he said hoarsely.

“Watch me,” I answered, feeling a surge of empowerment.
