Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup whole‑milk Greek yogurt
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature

Custard & Sweetener

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1 vanilla bean, split and seeds scraped

Seasonings & Garnish

  • ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons toasted coconut flakes (optional)
  • Fresh berries for serving (optional)

Instructions

Merging the Two Mixtures

  1. Temper the Peanut Butter. Slowly pour about one‑quarter of the warm custard into the peanut‑butter‑yogurt bowl, whisking constantly. This tempers the mixture, preventing the eggs from curdling when combined later.
  2. Combine Completely. Once tempered, pour the remaining custard into the bowl and whisk until the batter is silky and homogeneous. The batter should have a pourable consistency—thick enough to coat a spoon but fluid enough to spread evenly in the baking dish.
  3. Preheat the Oven. While you finish mixing, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). A consistent oven temperature ensures even cooking and a gentle rise that creates a fluffy interior.
  4. Transfer to Baking Dish. Lightly grease a 9‑inch square baking dish with a neutral oil. Pour the batter in, smoothing the top with a spatula. The surface should be level to promote uniform browning.
  5. Bake and Caramelize. Place the dish in the center of the oven and bake for 20‑25 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center jiggles slightly when the dish is gently shaken. A light golden crust signals the custard is perfectly caramelized.
