Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 3 large Granny Smith apples, cored and sliced ½‑inch thick
  • 1 cup all‑purpose flour
  • ¼ cup whole‑wheat flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

Batter & Sweet Glaze

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ cup milk (dairy or plant‑based)
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted (for glaze)
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

Seasonings & Toppings

  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Extra cinnamon for dusting

Instructions

Baking & Finishing

  1. Preheat the oven. Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. A hot oven creates an immediate rise, giving the fritters a golden exterior.
  2. Coat the apple slices. Dip each apple slice into the batter, allowing excess to drip back into the bowl. Place the coated slices in a single layer on the prepared sheet, leaving a small gap for air circulation.
  3. Bake. Slide the sheet into the oven and bake for 12‑15 minutes, then flip the fritters and bake an additional 8‑10 minutes until both sides are deep golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Prepare the glaze. While the fritters bake, whisk together melted butter, powdered sugar, and a tablespoon of milk until smooth. Add a dash of cinnamon for extra warmth.
  5. Glaze and serve. Drizzle the warm glaze over the hot fritters as soon as they exit the oven. Sprinkle a final dusting of cinnamon and serve immediately, optionally with a dollop of vanilla yogurt or whipped cream.
