Ingredients
Crust
- 1 ½ cups all‑purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Cheesecake Filling
- 16 oz cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup sour cream
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Caramel Apple Topping
- 3 medium apples, peeled & thinly sliced
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of sea salt
Instructions
Caramel Apple Topping & Baking
- Caramelize the Apples. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and sea salt, allowing the mixture to bubble and turn a deep amber (about 2 minutes). Add the sliced apples, tossing to coat. Cook for 5‑7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender but still hold shape and the sauce thickens.
- Preheat the Oven. While the apples finish, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This temperature ensures the cheesecake sets gently without cracking while the apple topping continues to caramelize.
- Layer the Apples. Evenly distribute the caramelized apple slices over the cheesecake filling, using a spoon to drizzle any remaining sauce across the surface. The glossy glaze will create a beautiful sheen once baked.
- Bake the Bars. Place the pan on the middle rack and bake for 30‑35 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center jiggles slightly when the pan is gently shaken. A light golden hue on the apple topping signals readiness.
- Cool & Chill. Remove from the oven and let the bars cool on a wire rack for 20 minutes. Then refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight) to fully set the cheesecake layer, making clean slicing possible.
