Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all‑purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1  tsp vanilla extract

Latte Frosting

  • 8  oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 2  tbsp strong brewed espresso, cooled
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Mocha Glaze

  • ½ cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2  tbsp brewed espresso
  • 1  tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

Baking the Base

  1. Spread the batter. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula. The batter should be about ½‑inch thick; a uniform layer ensures even baking and a flat surface for the frosting.
  2. Bake. Place the pan in the center of the oven and bake for 20‑25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted 1‑inch from the edge comes out with a few moist crumbs. This timing yields a fudgy interior while the edges set.
  3. Cool. Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then lift them out using the parchment and cool completely. Cooling is essential; it prevents the frosting from melting when applied.
