I Disguised Myself as a Housekeeper to Expose My Son’s Fiancée’s Dark Secrets and Betrayal

I Disguised Myself as a Housekeeper to Expose My Son’s Fiancée’s Dark Secrets and Betrayal Save

Confrontation in the Library

I slipped past the velvet curtains and entered the library, the scent of old leather and pine needles thick in the air.

Vanessa stood by the mahogany desk, a glass of wine trembling in her hand.

“Explain those documents, Vanessa,” I demanded, voice low but steady.

She glanced at the towering shelves, then back at me, eyes flickering like a candle in wind.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” she whispered, lips barely moving.

The silence stretched, broken only by the distant ticking of the grandfather clock.

She lifted her wrist, and I saw a flash of metal beneath the cuff.

Her fingers twitched, the tremor unmistakable, as if she were hiding something too heavy to hold.

“You’re holding a flash drive, aren’t you?” I said, stepping closer, the recorder humming quietly in my pocket.

She stared at the floor, the wine glass slipping, spilling scarlet onto the Persian rug.

“It’s— it’s just a—” she stammered, a bitter laugh escaping.

“A flash drive? In my private office?” I pressed, feeling the weight of every silent accusation.

Her shoulders slumped, the façade cracking, but she still denied, voice quivering.

“I didn’t— I never—” she tried again, but the tremor in her hands betrayed the lie.

I reached for the drive, the metal cool against my palm, and the recorder clicked, capturing the truth.

Daniel’s Arrival and the Escalating Threat

The heavy oak door burst open and Daniel stormed in, eyes wild from the bucket incident.

He stopped dead as he saw the flash drive glint in my hand.

“Mom?” he breathed, the word tangled with disbelief.

“Look at what she’s been hiding, Daniel,” I said, holding the drive up like a shield.

His jaw clenched, the memory of Vanessa’s cruelty flashing across his mind.

“You think I’m blind?” he shouted, voice cracking, “You think I didn’t see the way she laughed at me?”

He paced, hands trembling, the same shake I had seen in her.

“What does this mean?” he demanded, eyes darting between the drive and Vanessa’s face.

She stared at the floor, then lifted her gaze, a fierce fire igniting behind her eyes.

“You have no right—” she began, but the sound of footsteps echoed from the garden.

Without warning, she bolted, the door swinging shut behind her.

“Mom! Where are you going?” Daniel called, lunging after her.

I followed, heart pounding, the flash drive secured in my coat.

The garden maze loomed, hedges towering like silent sentinels.

Vanessa emerged from the shadows, a sleek black pistol glinting in her hand.

“Stay out of this, you old woman!” she shouted, trembling voice now laced with menace.
