I Found My Missing Wife Working as a Hotel Maid and She Was Pregnant

I Found My Missing Wife Working as a Hotel Maid and She Was Pregnant Save

Confrontation in the Lobby

“Sir?” the manager repeated, his voice trembling.

Alejandro’s eyes narrowed. “Explain yourself.”

The manager swallowed, glancing at the woman in the blue uniform. “It was… your brother, Carlos.”

“Carlos?” Alejandro heard the name echo like a accusation.

He felt the weight of the fresh towels in his hand, the scent of linen masking a deeper rot.

“He handled the family finances,” the manager continued, “and he forged the order that froze Lucía’s accounts.”

Alejandro’s heart thudded. “Why would he do that?”

“He wanted you away,” the manager said, eyes darting toward the elevator doors. “He feared you’d find out.”

“And you didn’t see this coming?” Alejandro asked, voice low.

“I… I was told the documents were legitimate,” the manager whispered, his skin paling.

In the corner, Alejandro’s new girlfriend stared, her mouth frozen open.

“Show me him,” Alejandro demanded, stepping toward the revolving doors.

The manager nodded, pointing down the marble corridor.

“He’s waiting for you in the lobby,” he said, voice cracking.

Alejandro’s pulse raced as the heavy doors swished open, revealing the polished marble and a figure leaning against a column.

Carlos’s False Concern

Carlos smiled, a thin, rehearsed line. “Alejandro, I’m glad you’re here.”

His eyes flickered to Lucía, then back to the elevator, a subtle twitch betraying his calm.

“What’s going on?” Alejandro asked, voice like steel.

“I heard about the… misunderstanding,” Carlos replied, his hands clasped tightly.

“You forged the order, didn’t you?” Alejandro snapped.

Carlos’s smile faltered. “I… I had to protect the family.”

“Protect?” Alejandro laughed bitterly. “You emptied Lucía’s accounts, ruined her life.”

Carlos swallowed, his gaze darting to the cleaning cart. “She found out about my… diversions. I couldn’t let her expose me.”

Lucía’s grip tightened on the cart’s handle, knuckles white. “You made her disappear,” she whispered.

“She was pregnant,” Alejandro said, feeling the ache in his chest.

Carlos’s eyes widened, then narrowed. “I didn’t know—”

“You knew everything,” Alejandro cut in, stepping closer. “You forged my signature to force her out, to keep me safe from… what? From the truth?”

Carlos’s mouth twitched. “I thought I was doing what was best for the business.”

“Business?” Alejandro scoffed. “You sold my wife for a ledger.”

Suddenly, the lights flickered. A low hum filled the lobby, then went dead.

Darkness enveloped the scene, the only sound the distant whine of the elevator’s cables.

Carlos’s hand slipped into his jacket. In the dim glow of a stray exit sign, a knife glinted.

He lunged, the blade aimed at Lucía’s throat.
