I caught My Husband’s Secret Life and Chose to Expose His Betrayal Before He Could Choose Between Us

I caught My Husband’s Secret Life and Chose to Expose His Betrayal Before He Could Choose Between Us Save

The Buzzing Phone

I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong. After Adrian left for the guest room, I couldn’t sleep. I wandered back to the living room, where the dim light from the TV cast eerie shadows on the walls.

Adrian’s phone sat on the coffee table, buzzing with a missed call. The caller ID read ‘Crestline Legal.’ My heart raced. Why would the legal department be calling him at this hour?

I hesitated, but curiosity got the better of me. I picked up the phone and swiped to see a notification. A hidden folder had just been updated. My fingers trembled as I tapped on it, revealing a series of encrypted files.

I couldn’t open them, but the names of the files were enough to make my blood run cold: ‘Project Phoenix,’ ‘Crestline Funds Transfer,’ ‘Madeline’s Account.’

My mind raced. What was he hiding? I needed answers, and I couldn’t wait any longer.

The Confrontation

With Adrian’s phone in hand, I marched down the hallway to the guest room. The door was slightly ajar, and I could hear the distant hum of the air conditioner.

“Adrian,” I said, my voice steady but trembling inside. “We need to talk.”

He sat up in bed, the sheets pooling around his waist. His eyes widened when he saw the phone in my hand.

“Where did you get that?” he demanded, reaching for it.

“I found it on the coffee table. What are these files, Adrian?” My voice was firm, but I could feel the tears welling up.

He hesitated, then sighed. “Evelyn, I can explain.”

“No, you can’t,” I interrupted. “Who is Madeline, really? And what is Project Phoenix?”

He ran a hand through his hair, looking desperate. “It’s complicated, Evelyn. I—”

Just as he was about to continue, the sound of police sirens shattered the silence. They grew louder and more urgent, sending a chill down my spine.

“What is that?” I whispered, my heart pounding.

Before Adrian could answer, the front door burst open. Uniformed officers stormed into the house, their faces stern and resolute.

“Adrian Carter, you are under arrest for embezzlement and fraud. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.”

The room spun as they handcuffed him, dragging him away from me. I stood there, paralyzed, as the chaos unfolded around me.

“Evelyn, I’m sorry,” Adrian called out, his voice muffled by the commotion. But it was too late. The police had already taken him away, leaving me alone in a house filled with questions and betrayal.

The Officers Cuff Adrian

The living room was silent as the officers filed in, their presence heavy with the weight of the situation. One of them, a stern woman with a clipboard, stepped forward.

“Adrian Carter, you are under arrest for embezzlement of funds from Crestline Holdings. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.”

Adrian’s face paled. He looked at me, his eyes wide with fear. “Evelyn, I—”
