My Mother-in-Law Tried to Steal My Newborn Son Right After My C-Section But She Didn’t Expect Me to Fight Back

My Mother-in-Law Tried to Steal My Newborn Son Right After My C-Section But She Didn’t Expect Me to Fight Back Save

Bleeding Dawn

My name is Amelia Hart and the world is a blur of white sheets and fluorescent glare.

My incision sears like a hot iron; every breath feels like a knife sliding under the bandage.

In my arms I cradle Lily, her face a perfect pink puff, and Miles, already snoring tiny clouds of air.

The monitors beep a steady rhythm, a reminder that both babies are alive while I am barely.

Caleb’s voice drifts from the hallway, muffled and distant, “I’ll be right back, love.”

I try to lift my head, a wave of pain crashing over my stomach, forcing me to gasp.

My eyes flutter shut; the scent of antiseptic mixes with the sweet milk lingering on my skin.

Even the soft rustle of the nurse’s shoes feels like a storm against my fragile state.

I clutch the twins tighter, feeling their heartbeats sync with the frantic thrum in my veins.

Above the door, the hallway lights flicker, casting long shadows that dance across the bland ceiling.

Every second stretches; I am caught between the urge to scream and the exhaustion that drags my limbs to the bed.

“Just a little longer,” I whisper to Lily, though I can’t even hear the words over the ringing in my ears.

Vivienne’s Claim

The door bursts open and Vivienne steps in, leather folder clutched like a weapon.

She fixes me with a cold stare, the kind that scans for weakness.

“Amelia, sign these,” she says, slamming the folder onto the tray where my IV drip hums.

She doesn’t wait for an answer; she lifts the folder, revealing a paper stamped “Temporary Family‑Placement Agreement.”

“For whom?” I manage to croak, the words tearing at my throat.

“Miles,” she replies, eyes narrowing as she points at the bassinet.

Her hand darts toward the small cradle, fingers brushing the soft blanket covering my son.

“You have two,” she continues, “and Mallory has none. She’s been trying for years.”

A cold shiver runs down my spine as she pulls the bassinet lid back, exposing Miles’s tiny hand.

She grips him, her grip iron‑tight, and pulls him out of the cradle as if she were rescuing a stray cat.

My heart hammers; a surge of adrenaline spikes through the pain, and I try to reach for him.

Vivienne jerks her elbow into my jaw, the impact sending a flash of blood to my mouth.

The alarm on the call button screeches, red lights flashing, a deafening wail that fills the room.

I am left on the edge of consciousness, the folder open on the tray, Vivienne’s eyes locked on the empty bassinet as she holds my newborn aloft.

Security Intervenes

My finger trembled on the red button, the sound of a muffled thud echoing in the sterile hallway.

The door burst open and a tall man in a crisp security uniform stepped in, his badge catching the fluorescent light.

“Commander Marcus Bell,” he announced, his voice firm but carrying a note of recognition.

For a split second my mind leapt back to the file cabinets of the state office, to the cases we’d built together.

“Amelia?” he said, his eyes narrowing as they landed on me. “Attorney General Hart?”
