I Gave Birth Alone While He Chose Cocktails on the Beach, and My Revenge Left Him Speechless

I Gave Birth Alone While He Chose Cocktails on the Beach, and My Revenge Left Him Speechless Save

The Shock in the Living Room

Trevor stood frozen in the doorway, his suitcase slipping from his hand, eyes wide as they locked onto the figure in our living room. “No, not YOU! What on earth is going on here?”

“Surprise,” I said, a bitter smile twisting my lips. “Mom's here to help with the twins.”

His expression shifted from confusion to guilt, and I felt a rush of satisfaction. “You should have been here for me, Trevor. This is what you chose.”

“I… I meant to be back in time,” he stammered, voice barely above a whisper. “I thought—”

“What? That you could just leave for some sun and cocktails? While I was here, struggling?”

Mom moved closer, concern etched on her face. “Honey, let’s talk about this. Trevor, she needed you.”

His guilt morphed into defensiveness. “I just wanted a break before all hell broke loose with parenthood! Can’t you understand that?”

My heart raced, anger bubbling to the surface. “A break? You used your last days of freedom to sip drinks while I was in surgery, Trevor! You didn’t even care.”

He took a step forward, but I held my ground. “You missed everything! The joy, the pain, the first time I saw our daughters.”

A silence hung in the air, thick and suffocating. I could see the regret written all over his face, but I wasn’t ready to forgive. Not yet.

Resisting the Truth

“I needed to unwind,” Trevor insisted, his voice rising in frustration. “It was supposed to be one last trip before everything changed.”

“Do you really think that justifies abandoning your wife?” I shot back, my heart racing. “You think I haven’t been scared? Overwhelmed? I did this alone!”

Mom interjected, her tone firm but gentle. “This isn’t just about Trevor’s vacation. You’ve been through so much, and it’s not fair to expect you both to handle this without any support.”

“Support?” I laughed bitterly. “He wanted to celebrate his freedom while I was going through the hardest moment of my life.”

Trevor’s face shifted again, a flicker of fear clouding his frustration. “I didn’t realize how much I’d be missing. I—I’ll help, I promise.”

But before I could respond, the piercing wail of one of the twins sliced through the tension, electric and loud.

Trevor’s expression morphed into panic, eyes wide as he darted to look toward the nursery. The reality of our new life washed over him, unmistakable and harsh.

“I… I don’t know what to do!” he cried, voice cracking. I stood frozen, watching him wrestle with the weight of his responsibilities.
