I Thought I Knew My Father Until His Dates Started Disappearing, Leaving Me Desperate for Answers

I Thought I Knew My Father Until His Dates Started Disappearing, Leaving Me Desperate for Answers Save

Confronting My Father

Every woman my widowed father dated disappeared by morning. I stood in the living room, my heart racing. “Dad, we need to talk,” I said, looking straight into his eyes. “Where are the women you’ve been dating?”

Elias opened his mouth, but no words came out. “I don’t understand,” he whispered, confusion etched on his face. “They all seemed happy.”

The way his brows furrowed left me uneasy. Did he truly not know? The shadow of guilt flickered across his features, a fleeting moment that rattled my certainty. “You always tell me everything, Dad. What’s going on?”

He shook his head, a desperate look in his eyes. “I... I haven’t done anything wrong.” The sincerity in his voice was drowned out by the fear swelling in my chest. Was he hiding something, or was he a victim too?

“But they just vanish! Six women, Dad. Six times!” I shouted, the words bursting forth before I could rein them in. “Don’t you care?”

“Of course I care!” He raised his hands in frustration. “I thought... I thought I was finding love again.” His expression was a mix of urgency and despair, like he was pleading for understanding that I wasn’t sure I could offer.

Gathering Clues

Determined to uncover the truth, I decided to talk to each of the women who had dated my father. If I could piece together their experiences, maybe I would understand what was happening.

The first woman I met, Lila, was nervous. “I thought he was wonderful,” she said, fidgeting with her coffee cup. “Our date was perfect—so romantic. But then... this text came.” She pulled out her phone, her hands trembling.

“It’s not you, it’s him. Trust me, you need to get away.”

I felt a chill run down my spine. “What do you mean?”

She leaned in closer, eyes wide. “I didn’t know what to think. It was like a bad dream—everything seemed fine, and then… it was over.” Her voice cracked, and I could see the fear etched into her features. Each woman had a similar tale, each date filled with laughter and promise only to end in silence.

I met with another woman, Sara, who echoed Lila’s sentiments. “I thought he was sincere. But that message... it haunted me.”

“Forget him and don’t look back. He’s not who you think he is.”

Frustration bubbled within me as the pieces began to align. Each of their stories mirrored the next, a horrifying pattern. I was desperate for answers.

As I prepared to leave, I received a tip about a woman I hadn’t yet interviewed. “She has something important to share,” the message said. My heart raced as I headed to the meeting point. When I finally found her, her expression mirrored the others'.

“You have to understand, there’s a reason why they disappeared,” she whispered urgently. “It’s connected to…” Just as she was about to show me the message again, she suddenly received a text on her phone that caused her to gasp, and then she collapsed.
