I Never Knew My Fiancée Was a Monster Until She Tried to Steal My Family’s Dark Secret

I Never Knew My Fiancée Was a Monster Until She Tried to Steal My Family’s Dark Secret Save

Fury in the Foyer

“Tell me where it is, you old hag! I know you hid it!” Diana’s venomous words sliced through the echoing marble.

My heart hammered as the red tulips slipped from my grip, scattering like wounded birds across the floor.

Evelyn’s cry cracked the air, “Oh, Arthur!” and I felt the world tilt.

I lunged, snatching Diana’s hair, the strands biting my fingers, and shoved her away from Grandmother.

“Don’t you dare touch her!” I roared, thrusting my body between them, a trembling shield.

Diana staggered, her mouth twisted into a bitter laugh, eyes flashing ice.

Evelyn’s frail hands clutched my sleeve, trembling.

“She found the papers, Arthur… she knows about your father, and she wants the key to the safe,” she whispered, voice cracking like old plaster.

The words hit me like a cold wind; my father’s shadow loomed larger than ever.

“You think I’m a naïve boy?” Diana sneered, smoothing her burgundy dress.

“Your precious grandmother has been keeping a fortune from you—your father’s real inheritance,” she hissed.

Evelyn’s eyes pleaded, her grip tightening, as if trying to anchor me to a truth I could not yet grasp.

“No, Arthur, I was protecting you! Your father left a mountain of debt and a criminal record—I spent my life paying it off so you could bear the Sterling name with pride,” she wavered, the truth spilling from her cracked voice.

My skin grew cold; the foyer felt like a cage of accusation.

Diana’s stare turned steel, “Please, Arthur, we could have had millions, but you chose her!”

I swallowed, the weight of Evelyn’s trembling confession pressing against my ribs.

The Butler’s Secret

The butler, a statue of black suit and dead eyes, finally moved.

He stepped forward, his hands sliding along the ornate wall until a faint click echoed.

A narrow panel slid open, revealing a rusted iron key and a leather‑bound ledger, dust swirling in the chandelier’s dim light.

My breath caught; the key glinted like a promise, the ledger’s pages whispering of hidden ledgers.

“Sir,” the butler said, voice low, “you’ve been looking for this.”

I reached for the key, fingers twitching, heart thudding against my chest.

Suddenly, the grand chandelier shuddered, its crystal arms trembling.

A sharp crack split the silence as iron groaned, the ancient chain giving way.

Glass exploded outward, a rain of shards cascading down like a waterfall of knives.

The heavy crystal fell, crashing onto the marble with a deafening roar.

Diana was caught in the cascade, her burgundy dress torn, blood mixing with shattered glass.

She gasped, a scream caught in her throat, eyes wide with terror as the shards pin her to the floor.

When the dust settled, the ledger lay open on the floor, its first entry staring back: a fraudulent scheme bearing Diana’s signature.
