I Locked Every Account After My Divorce, Watching My Ex’s Lavish Scam Collapse in Real Time

I Locked Every Account After My Divorce, Watching My Ex’s Lavish Scam Collapse in Real Time Save

Cold Bench, Cold Reality

My hands still shook as I clutched the cold metal rail of the Daley Center bench.

Father’s grip was iron, his voice a low command: “Lock everything, now.”

Trevor slid his arm around Vanessa’s waist, the Escalade humming like a predator ready to pounce.

Vanessa’s sunglasses caught the evening light; her smile was a razor blade aimed at my throat.

“Don’t cry too hard, Mari,” Trevor sneered, his words slicing the thin air.

I swallowed, feeling the sting of tears that wouldn’t fall.

“Some women just don’t know how to keep a man,” he added, as if bragging.

Rafael’s eyes never left the car. He said nothing, but his stare said everything.

My heart pounded against my ribs, a frantic drumbeat to the sound of city traffic.

The engine roared, and the SUV vanished down the street, taking my past with it.

All I could hear was my father’s urgent whisper: “Every PIN. Every password.”

My world tipped, and the bench became the only solid thing left.

Project Blackout

When the door slammed behind me, I dropped my coat and lunged for my phone.

One by one I opened the banking apps, each login screen a battlefield.

“Changing PINs… now,” I muttered, fingers trembling over the keypad.

Rafael’s voice crackled through the speaker: “I’m on the line with the bank. Freeze every account, personal and corporate.”

The bank’s automated tone was a cold promise as I typed new numbers.

My father’s laptop sat open on the kitchen table, its screen glowing like a secret beacon.

I noticed a folder hidden among his tax documents, titled Project Blackout.

Curiosity and dread tangled; I clicked.

Inside were spreadsheets, encrypted logs, and a single video file labeled “Final Cut.”

Before I could open it, my phone vibrated, a voicemail icon flashing red.

I pressed play.

A muffled voice, distorted and urgent, whispered, “Stop digging, Mari. This isn’t yours to fix.”

The line hissed, then cut to static.

My breath caught. The screen of my phone went black just as I began changing every password.

Summoned to the Executive Floor

"Mari, my office," the assistant said, handing me a thin white envelope.

I swallowed the lump in my throat, feeling the weight of every freshly changed password humming in my veins.

The glass doors of the headquarters opened onto a marble hallway that smelled faintly of citrus polish.

At the end of the corridor, the CEO, Gregory Haines, stood with his arms crossed, his eyes narrowing as he watched me approach.

"Sit," he said, gesturing to a sleek leather chair opposite his massive oak desk.

I placed my tote on the floor, the laptop inside thumping against the hard surface.

"Your father's little… operation has caused quite the stir," Gregory began, voice smooth but edged with impatience.

"Freeze the black cards?" I asked, my hand tightening around the strap of my bag.

"Exactly," he replied. "Our clients are furious. Those cards are revenue streams. Reactivate them, or we will pursue legal action against you and your family."

A cold draft slipped under the door as Rafael slipped into the room, his presence understated but unmistakable.
